Stage Manager || TEACHER || DESIGNER || WRITER
My foray into production and performance began in high school, when I volunteered to work on the tech team at Venture Christian Church in Los Gatos, California. I started as the AV recorder for each service, but by the time I graduated, I was acting as service producer and media director. The experience inspired me to take an Intro to Production class during my first quarter of college, which became the impetus for my journey into stage management, design, and technical theatre.
I am now a graduate student at Santa Clara University, pursuing a masters degree in education and a teaching credential. I graduated from Santa Clara with a bachelor's in Theatre Arts and a minor in Urban Education. I have played a variety of roles in the theatre world, including stage manager, assistant stage manager, lighting designer, assistant projections designer, board operator, and construction crew member. Outside of productions, I have been active in arts education for children. During a semester abroad, I was an intern at Young Actors Theatre in Islington, London, UK.
A firm believer in the power of the arts, I seek to bring my theatre experience into urban schools to help struggling youths discover their potential, do good for their communities, and gain opportunities to rise out of hardship. I want to develop arts-based-learning curriculum for core subjects, like English and math, in order to reach out to underprivileged students and create a conscientious community of ethical, hard-working, and healthy youths.
